Jessie Shuby is a University of New Haven Graduate, Cum Laude, with a BFA in Interior Design with a concentration in Pre-Architecture. Using her knowledge through academics and past experiences, she is eager to strive in the design world. Focused on creating spaces that are influential to everyone no matter their needs and design style.

Jessie’s interests include historic architecture, the outdoors, and art among many other things. Her idea of ensuring that others are taken care of before herself plays a huge role in who she is as a designer. She tends to choose herself last to favor others' well-being in most situations, helping her thrive in her field of Interior design.

Growing up, she was always taking part in activities that ultimately formed her creativity. Whether that involved playing in the sun or making some sort of craft inside on a rainy day, Jessie was always creating.

A considerable amount of Jessie’s creative side sprung from the influence of her father. Her father, being a project manager for numerous construction projects, always made sure to bring her along on the journey, which ultimately sparked her interest in the design field.

“I grew up around and on construction sites due to my father’s job as a construction project manager. I got exposure to the design field at a very young age. I remember sitting in his office trailer and coloring on his site plans with his collection of highlighters. It's those memories that kept on bringing me back to the idea of a possible career in this industry.”

With the unfortunate loss of Jessie’s father in 2018, at the start of her Interior Design studies, she uses this as a form of empowerment to push forward and to continue to grow and create. Making sure her father's legacy lives on throughout her design career.

Jessie plans on using her influential background as the concept for how she will forever view the interior design process. Realizing that it’s okay to be reckless and color outside of the lines every now and again, but don’t forget your roots and where you came from.
